Developer

To be a developer of OpenUSS you need some skills:

1. Advanced Java Programming. There are many Java Programming's sites in Internet. Just pick one of it. A good point to start for general Java Programming and also for database and Java 2 Enterprise Programming is the site from Sun.

2. Database Programming. This includes JDBC. We use HypersonicSQL and InstantDB. Please refer to their own pages for more information about them.

3. Java 2 Enterprise Programming (J2EE). This includes Enterprise JavaBeans (EJB). We use JOnAs as EJB Server. A free good book for EJB is:

  • Mastering Enterprise JavaBeans. Go to the serverside and become a free member of them. After this you can download a pdf file of the Mastering Enterprise JavaBeans book for free. I also recommend the book from Richard Monson-Haefel "Enterprise JavaBeans".

4. Enhydra Programming. Just go to the Enhydra to download and learn how to program with it.

5. Handling Concurrent Versioning System (CVS). This is very important because all the OpenUSS developers have to work together concurrently.

Please follow these steps to become an OpenUSS developer:

1. Join the SourceForge.net. You will get a username from SourceForge.

2. Contact Lofi Dewanto (email: dewanto@uni-muenster.de) and tell him that you want to join us. He'll put you in the members list of OpenUSS.
